Vinted Users Share Anger Regarding Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Updates
Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
